Our P.E.A.C.E. program update

It has been a while since we updated our official blog and facebook page. This is due to the fact that we switched to using our website early this year. However, we would like to constantly be updating the blog for communication and new updates.
Our newly kids and youths  P.E.A.C.E program has been fairing good and we have a total of 20 kids altogether. This program runs on a weekly basis every Saturday.  Play, Eat, Appropriate mentorship, Critical skills, and Education are the meaning of initials P.E.A.C.E. which is synonymous with our entire organization meaning togetherness. This is a crucial program that is meant to play a critical role in the current and future lives of the kids we work with. Starting with playing, we have several sports including football and volleyball. We hope to role our more sports in the coming days to diversify as well as tap the unexploited talents as they develop.
After playing, the kids sit to cool down as they eat healthy snacks and fruits to help regain the lost energy as well as keep fit health wise.  It is during this session that the kids connect with mentors who in return offer appropriate mentorship to these amazing kids.  Mentors are supposed to be close people who take time to connect and understand the kids. We believe that mentors play a crucial role in the future life of any successful kids and youths.
After mentoring them, Critical life skills and are offered and includes communication skills. We believe communication is a vital tool towards a successful life. Other skills are administered to the kids in relation to their age.
The last portion is Education. This comprises of both formal and informal education. Education is believed to be the key to success. Under this part, we have hygiene, moral development, critical thinking as well as other crucial components.
All these are done in an atmosphere of love and respect, as well as an interesting and fun environment.  Volunteers are the main backbone of this program as they help us run it by participating in person, resources , support and passing a word to their friends. Feel free to share this with your friend and if you would like to participate in anyway, get in touch with us.

Here are photos of part of the program.

New year's progress

It has been a while since i updated the blog, but as you knows, the first two months of the year are normally very tough and with no much activities going on. Otherwise kids at Home delegate were happy to receive Christmas gifts from former volunteers. We have a couple of photos even if they appear distorted from a virus attack.

The quail project we have been anticipating for has not yet kicked off due to several reasons. We have got new information about this project, where the market has already been saturated and it is hard to sell eggs or meat. We intend to switch and continue with poultry rearing since it has no season and the products are still marketable. After loosing the founder of Alpha Joy care center, we have started a sponsorship program to help ease the burden at the centre. Sponsored kids are taken to boarding schools, to ease the burden at the home. The sports program is active now, and we require sports specialists to train the young stars and help nurture their talents. We also require sponsors for the team and help us get uniform, socks and football shoes and soccer balls. This program is intended to engage the youths as they get exposed to entrepreneurial trainings and nurture their sports talent. This program is intended to create skills, nurture talents, eradicate poverty and minimize HIV/AIDs prevalence. This is our long term goal on the program.

If you are a sports person and would want to get involved, please feel free to contact us through muunganointl@gmail.com

Christmas has come

Christmas is a week far and the homes are experiencing a decrease with the kids as they go to celebrate with the relatives. However, there is a planned celebration right after all the kids are back as they get some stuff received from great volunteers and supporters. We are on a high gear starting to set up a Quail project that is thought to change a lot of things at the homes. This is because the profit and benefits of the project will ensure availability of funds at all times got from egg sale. We are in need of more support from former volunteers and all well wishers so that we are able to kick off in the shortest time possible. We are requesting all potential volunteers, people with a kind heart to skip one meal and share the money to start up the project. We are setting up a fundraising platform where people can freely give towards the project.

This is the most significant project as there is need for money at all times to run the homes. The money is not always available and so there are many shortcomings. The project will ensure a self sustaining home. The eggs are 10 times profitable that of chicken hen.

Small things goes a long way

Hello, it has been a while since we updated the blog but its just that we had been pretty busy and in top gears planning. We are also looking forward to launch our official website that is under construction. We have been having great volunteers who shared and assisted in knowledge of quail project. However, we still need volunteers who are fully informed about the birds. The project will be a great hit out of its intensive benefits. We are currently preparing for Christmas the same with every home we work with. Any Christmas package including presents can be sent to us through our postal address which is  Muungano Community International, P.o Box, 40 -00902 Kikuyu Kenya or if you are in the US, contact Cher Antia  through cherantia@aol.com or Jeffrey Sabourin through jsabourin79@gmail.com who will assist you in sending the package and/or donations.
We dearly need partners who can assist fund the quail and farming projects to be implemented in several homes. If one feels the need to support this project, feel free to write us. In the meantime, feel obliged to show some love through assisting an orphan in need however small you support may appear. Small things goes along way here in Africa and brings a big difference.
